A treat for music lovers will take place at Fota House on Tuesday, 4 July 2006.
Karin Leitner has been touring Ireland for the last ten years with various chamber music partners. This time she returns, by popular demand, with the fiery Austrian-Bulgarian harpist Krassimira Ziegler to perform a Concert for Flute and Harp with beautiful pieces by Claude Debussy, Bach, Mozart, Faure, Salzedo and Caccini as well as some Irish composers and one of Karin Leitner’s own composition’s ‘King Arthur’s Ride’. Also featured will be two enchanting pieces by the promising English composer David Punshon which were composed especially for her.
Leitner, born in Vienna has been Soloist with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Vienna Mozart Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra London, the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the London Mozart Players.
Ziegler has performed as Principal Harpist with the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra and has also toured with the Ladies Chamber Orchestra Vienna, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and the Stage Orchestra of the Vienna State Opera. She is a professor at the “Theresianum” Vienna.
Both performers have made Radio Recordings in several countries while Karin Leitner has had a CD review in the “Social and Personal” magazine and played live on Radio Lyric FM and Radio 3.
Fota House has been chosen as part of the Duo’s Irish Tour 2006 and the Concert is sponsored by the Austrian Embassy, Dublin, Europcar and Allied Irish Banks plc. Cobh. This is an evening not to be missed. Book early to avoid disappointment. A complimentary Wine Reception will take place at the Interval.
