Fota House in association with
The Cork Orchestral Society
will host a concert with
The Chamber Choir Madrigal'75
On: Thursday 17th May 2007
Time: 8.00p.m.
Admission: €20.00
The vocal ensemble, Madrigal ‘75, director James Taylor, presents an evening concert of chansons and madrigals from 16th and 17th centuries, featuring guest instrumentalists, Sarah Cunningham, Marja Tuhkanen and Larissa O' Grady. The concert takes place in Fota House on May 17th at 8pm, and is part of the Cork Orchestral Society series.
The programme is an exciting one, full of contrasting passions as suggested by the concert title Madrigali Guerrieri et Amorosi, Songs of War and Love. The evening will unfold with exquisite pieces from the period such as Clément Jannequin's tour de force, La Guerre le bataille du Marignon, and other gems by Gombert, Lassus and Certon. Of course, no recital of madrigals would be complete without music from the pen of the master, Claudio Monteverdi, whose eighth book of madrigals many consider to be the perfection of the madrigal form. Set in the beautiful surroundings of Fota House, the music will certainly feel at home and should be a special treat for performers and audience alike!
