A One Women Show

We have pleasure in informing you of

A One Women Show "Isadora Duncan" with Martha Furey

A personal interpretation by Martha Furey of the life of Isadora Duncan the colourful and controversial founder of Modern Dance, who was born in America in 1877 and who died in Nice in 1927. Her life was one of high drama and eccentricity byt marred by tradedy. This show gives an insight into the many facets of her life.

Martha Furey wrote SOLO/ISADORA DUNCAN in January 2006 after four months of intense research. The first performance was at Tigh Fili Gallery in Cork City, Ireland in March 2006 as the opening of International Women’s Week.
Since then it has been performed in libraries, theatres and studios across Ireland.

“It has been a sheer joy to write and perform this play because Isadora was quite eccentric and determined as far as her art and her life were concerned. She had that real, gritty American spirit, that says ‘I can do it without Guilt’.
She never passed up an adventure as you will hear in this play. Sometimes she might have been better off letting a few of those adventures go by the wayside, but that was not her style.
She opened up another approach to dance for me and though I am not an experienced dancer, when I am on stage as Isadora, I feel like one”.

On: Friday 20th April at 8.00p.m.

Tickets: €20.00
