Press Release

‘ACROSS BOUNDARIES’

An Exhibition of Contemporary Art Works

OFFICIAL OPENING

WEDNESDAY 9TH NOVEMBER 2005 AT 7.00PM

FOTA HOUSE AND GARDENS, FOTA ISLAND

The Office of Public Works announces the official opening of ‘Across Boundaries’, a fabulous exhibition of contemporary art works from public art collections in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

The exhibition is a joint venture between the OPW and the Department of Finance and Personnel, Northern Ireland and is now in its eighth year. This year’s theme refers to the artistic boundaries that the included artists cross in terms of genre, styles and media. It also mirrors the geographical boundaries that artists physically cross. This year there are artists featured who currently live in Ireland but originate from locations as diverse as Russia, Japan and the United States.

The exhibition, which has been organised to coincide with Cork City being European City of Culture 2005, will be open to the public at Fota House, Fota Island, Carrigtwohill, County Cork from Wednesday 9th November until Wednesday 23rd November 2005.

Fota House and Gardens are open to the public from 10.00am to 4.30pm Monday to Saturday and from 11.00am to 4.30pm on Sundays.

Admission to the exhibition is free.

For further information contact Kevin Kennedy, OPW Press Office (01) 6476159 or 087 9303888.
